Event Details
On March 9, 2020 CMS released The Interoperability and Patient Access final rule (CMS-9115-F) which requires CMS-regulated payers to make health information more easily available to patients by leveraging APIs and FHIR technology. In the middle of a pandemic we need to start preparing for a federal mandate with a compliance date of 01/01/2021.
This session will focus on the critical components of the rule as it applies to payers:
- Approaches for technology and process that will support business and technical operations in meeting the mandate
- Important questions that need to be answered and issues that need to be addressed in order to ensure a successful implementation of a compliant solution
- Key questions about privacy and security that have been raised as a result of having to provide open API access to Patient PHI
- An overall perspective on achieving compliance from a payer technologist currently charged with addressing this new mandate
Presenters:
Amit Shah, Senior Director of Shared Applications/Services at Florida Blue/GuideWell
