Effective Use of AI and Automation in Utilization Management. Presented by MCG Health

Live on Zoom
Wednesday, August 28, 2024 (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM) (EDT)
Event Details

Over the past 40 years, utilization management (UM) has achieved wide use as a cost-containment strategy, reducing the consumption of unnecessary healthcare services. At the same time, it has also contributed to administrative burden through phone calls, faxes, and manual review of clinical data. This webinar will explore how that burden can be reduced by applying automation and artificial intelligence. Participants will gain insight into the history of how artificial intelligence has been used in healthcare, along with potential benefits and risks of the various methods. The presentation will describe how MCG Health approaches this technology responsibly by emphasizing evidence-based medicine.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the problem of administrative burden in UM for both payers and providers
  • Identify the potential benefits and risks of deploying artificial intelligence solutions in UM
  • Evaluate the approach developed by MCG Health to leverage artificial intelligence while supporting evidence-based medicine
  • Describe the problem of administrative burden in UM for both payers and providers.
