Presentation by Ransomware Negotiator Andrew Carr. A WEDI Privacy & Security Workgroup Event
OPEN TO ALL WEDI MEMBERS!
Today’s cybersecurity landscape can be a frightening place. Ransomware attacks seem to occur daily and are having tangible impacts on our daily lives. What many people don’t know is there are individuals out there with the high-stakes role of negotiating with threat actors on behalf of organizations impacted by ransomware. Join us for a discussion led by a former ransomware negotiator to learn about how ransomware impacts an organization, the ransomware negotiation process, risk awareness and mitigation, and how to best prepare your organization for this eventuality.
Drawing upon a 16-year career in cybersecurity through roles in digital forensics and incident response, cyber governance and academia, Andrew Carr is a Senior Director of Business Development for Booz Allen’s Commercial Incident Response team. In his role, Andrew partners with law firms, cyber insurance carriers, and private sector organizations to effectively prepare for, prevent, investigate, contain, and remediate malicious activity across a broad range of industry verticals including healthcare, financial services, technology, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, oil and gas, transportation and many more.
Andrew most recently held the position of Director of Cybersecurity Graduate programs and Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity at Utica University (NSA Center of Academic Excellence). In his role, Andrew designed and oversaw the modernization and redevelopment of the cybersecurity programs to better align with industry needs, leading to multiple consecutive top 15 Fortune rankings, while simultaneously responsible for development and instruction of undergraduate and graduate level digital forensics and incident response courses and industry partnerships.
